What is PHLAT?

PHLAT stands for Pretty Hyper Local and Topical.

It is an approach to the WWW that embodies a very “flat” organizational structure (in contrast to the very “deep” hierarchical structures of the world’s largest companies and corporations).

PHLAT.net is a network of websites following the PHLAT approach. You can think of each PHLAT.net site as an “index” to the internet (much like a book might have several indexes [aka “indices”] ) … so the entire PHLAT network functions like a vast online catalog that helps users navigate the very expansive World-Wide-Web. Note that because PHLAT.net sites do not collect any sensitive information from people who are simply surfing the WWW, data encryption is not required. When you visit a PHLAT.net website, you may very well see a warning message, telling you that the site is not secured with data encryption tools. Since no PHLAT.net site collects any sensitive information about its “visitors”, data encryption is not required. The information at each PHLAT.net website is provided by the site’s members — essentially, the members of the site are its “information providers”, which are organized by the PHLAT network organizational structure.

PHLAT.org is a very small organizational structure which maintains the PHLAT network — it is the “admin” (or “administrative”) organization responsible for how PHLAT.net websites work. For example, this organization made the decision to use this website ( PHLAT.news.blog ) as a platform for communications with people who want to know more about anything at all regarding the PHLAT.net network. The homepage of PHLAT.org displays what a PHLAT.net “default” homepage might look like.
